Juan and I are frequent visitors of the Balearic Islands, which is great for either plans with your friends, or a romantic escapade with your significant other. In a coming post we´ll give you tips to visit the neighbor island, Ibiza, but now we will talk about a small island called Formentera that keeps (in part) its salvage, and hippie soul.
To get there, you need to take a flight to Ibiza, and from there, take the ferry to Formentera. You can buy it online (on Balearia or Trasmapi). Once in Formentera, pick up a rental vehicle: you will need it to discover every corner of the island. Rent it at the final destination, which is La Savina port; most car rentals won’t let you cross the car (or bike) to Formentera.
Must see:
The iconic Cap de Babaría Lighthouse at sunset is ❤. The narrow road that gets you there is part of the charm. Make sure to stop there to take a pic.

Visit La Mola Lighthouse (on the opposite corner of the island), and the nearby La Mola Flea market, where you’ll find beautiful artisan pieces.

Beaches:
Mitjorn is a great option with low tide, the famous Ses Illetes (packed in August), or Cala Saona. Watching the sunset at Illetes is a must.
For having Lunch:
Each cala (beach) will have its own Chiringuito (beach restaurant) nearby.
At Illetes: One of our favorites is Es Molí de Sal.

We also like El Pirata, Juan y Andrea, and Beso Beach. Beso Beach is perfect for enjoying a great lunch and drinks waiting for sunset, while listening to great music.

At Mitjorn: Go to Gecko (hotel, restaurant, and Beach Club), Flipper & Chiller or Lucky.

For having Dinner:
For a fancy dinner, with a hippie-chic vibe, go to Can Carlos. Blue Bar is perfect if you want to have dinner right on the beach, have a drink, and dance in a good atmosphere. If you want to have dinner, while listening to live music, María Castaña is the place. To get an authentic vibe of the island go to Can Toni , which is nearby to the La Mola market.
Important tip: book early for Summer season ... and enjoy!
